04 — FREQUENTLY ASKED

Before the
first card.

Direct answers about what AXIS is, what is inside it and how it feels to use.

01Is AXIS a medical English course?

Not in the traditional sense. AXIS is a flashcard study experience built for physicians: clinical vocabulary, American pronunciation and spaced repetition in short sessions.

02Who is AXIS designed for?

For physicians who want to understand and use the English of clinical practice with more confidence — from the basics to the specialties, without being locked into a single track.

03What does a study session look like?

You see the expression, hear the pronunciation, check the context and rate the difficulty. From that rating, AXIS decides when the card should come back.

04How are reviews scheduled?

AXIS starts from SM-2 — the spaced repetition algorithm validated since 1987 — with optimizations of our own. Your hits, misses and difficulty rating recalculate when each expression returns. Review follows your memory, not a fixed queue.

05What is inside the decks?

Thirty-one clinical modules and 99 subdecks, with more than a thousand expressions — each one with audio and its own illustration. The path runs from the fundamentals to the specialties.

06Why does each card offer several audio files?

Each card combines male and female voices, teaching and natural tempos, and audio for both the term and the explanation — eight options for training listening and pronunciation precisely.
